In short

Blasch Precision Ceramics is an employee-owned manufacturer in Albany, New York, that designs and casts net shape ceramic and refractory components for refining, hydrogen and ammonia, power generation, mining, molten metals and industrial process heating. Earl Blasch founded the company on October 25, 1979, and it has grown from parts for steel into engineered ceramic solutions for heavy industry worldwide. Its quality system is certified to ISO 9001:2015 at both US sites.

From one forming process
to a range of industries

At its founding, Blasch made parts for the steel market. The forming process developed in those years casts ceramic to net or near net shape, which is why large, complex parts with internal threads and changing wall thickness come out of the mold without machining afterwards. How that works is described under the Blasch process.

The same process now serves refineries and chemical plants, hydrogen and ammonia producers, power plants, mines, foundries and furnace builders. Engineering and manufacturing sit together in about 60,000 square feet in Albany, with Blasch Global Solutions in Beaufort, South Carolina, for sourcing and distribution.

How we work | on a new part

Most projects start with a part that fails in the same place every campaign. What happens next follows the same pattern, whichever industry the part comes from.

From your dimensions

Engineers design the part from the dimensions and the operating conditions. A drawing helps, but it is not required to start.

Checked before it is cast

Flow, heat and stress are checked with CFD and FEA where the application calls for it, and materials are tested in our own lab for thermal shock, abrasion and creep.

Large and complex in one piece

Part weights range from about one ounce to two tons, so a large or complex shape is cast as one part instead of assembled from many.

With partners where they fit

When another forming method suits a part better, it is made by a vetted manufacturing partner, under the same engineering and quality system.

Owned by the people
who make the parts

Blasch is an employee-owned company through an ESOP. Its core values are Innovation, Relentless Pursuit of Results, Passion, Ownership, and Respect and Teamwork.

In 2014, Blasch installed solar panels covering 30,000 square feet on the headquarters building. They still supply up to 20% of the plant's electricity.

Why it matters | to you

A part designed and cast by the people who own the company is a part someone in Albany will still answer for at your next turnaround.
