Ceramic slurry pump liners
for side plates, impellers and volutes

Silicon carbide liners for new pumps, and ceramic plates fitted to worn pump parts.

Ceramic on the surfaces where slurry moves fastest.

In short

In abrasive slurry, ceramic liners in reaction bonded or alumina bonded silicon carbide on the suction side plate, the impeller and the volute are the pump liners that keep their shape where high alloy and rubber linings wear out. Blasch designs and casts these liners for new pump parts and as a repair: worn metal pump plates are machined down and fitted with ceramic plates, so the casing stays in service. OXYTRON and NITRON grades are added where temperature or chemistry makes the wear worse.

Where a slurry pump wears

The impeller throws the slurry outward at speed. The suction side liner and the impeller face see the incoming flow, the volute takes the stream on its way out, and the clearance between impeller and suction liner opens as both wear.

As that gap grows, slurry recirculates inside the pump, head and efficiency drop, and the wear speeds up. When the pump is finally opened, liner and impeller often go out together.

That makes the pump a planning problem as much as a materials problem. Parts that wear slowly and evenly let you change them at the shutdown you chose, together with the rest of the circuit.

What the gap decides

A slurry pump performs only as well as the gap between impeller and suction liner, so a liner that holds its shape holds the pump's output between rebuilds.

Pump parts we line

Each part is designed to the dimensions of the pump it goes into, with precise tolerances so it seats like the original part.

Suction side liners

The plate facing the impeller eye, where the incoming slurry turns and accelerates.

Impellers

Ceramic wear faces on the impeller, where the solids leave at the highest velocity.

Volutes and tailings linings

Linings for the volute casing and for the tailings lines that carry the same slurry onward.

New parts or a repair

Blasch engineers design, make, repair and install linings on new or worn pump parts. On a worn pump plate, the damaged face is machined down and fitted with ceramic plates, which turns a scrap part into a lined one.

The grades are InVinCer RB (reaction bonded silicon carbide) and ALTRON (alumina bonded) for most slurries, with OXYTRON, NITRON and silicon nitride where the duty calls for them. Nitride bonded silicon carbide

The pumps often feed hydrocyclones and slurry lines that wear on the same particles, see hydrocyclone liners and abrasion resistant valve parts. The whole range is on wear products.

Frequently asked

Questions about ceramic pump components

Does Blasch build complete pumps?

No. Blasch makes ceramic liners and components for the slurry pumps already in your plant, as new parts or fitted to worn ones.

Which pump brands can you line?

Liners are made for the slurry pumps of the major manufacturers. Send the pump model and size, and the engineer checks the dimensions.

Do you need the original part drawing?

No. A worn part or its dimensions are enough to design the ceramic liner.

How often does your slurry pump
need new liners?

Tell us the pump model, the slurry and how long the liners last today. A Blasch engineer proposes the ceramic parts for that pump.
